Thinking of getting another PC…

Say hello to the Acer Aspire Revo R6310, it boasts an Intel Atom 1.6GHz Dual Core CPU, 4GB RAM and a 500GB 2.5″ SATA hard disk. This is what people are calling a “nettop”, in the way that a netbook is a small notebook, so a nettop is a small desktop…in theory. It has both wireless connectivity (b, g and n range’s) as well as a gigabit ethernet port, possibly rendering it a perfect media host. There is also a high definition audio output on board as well as an HDMI port, which is said to be great up to 1080p without any reports of lag.

As you can see from the image above, the Revo is a tiny 7.2″ x 7.2″ and only 1.2″ thick! The only disadvantage to a machine this small is the lack of a CD/DVD drive, but external ones are cheap enough these days, and what’s wrong with sharing the CD drive from another machine? The little bugger even has an e-SATA port for speedy transfers with an external hard disk, possibly to use as a media host holding all music, photos and video files.

As you can see from the image above, it can even be mounted onto the back of your screen so long as the VESA mount isn’t in use already… The highest spec model currently has 16% off on Play.com.
The only question left, will OSX86 run on it?
