A friend of mine was having some trouble with his Packard Bell PC installing the Pioneer BD-ROM BDC-202 on his Vista Home Premium 32-bit PC. After spending 2 or 3 hours researching the problem, I managed to find a fix.

Please note: Fiddling with the registry is very dangerous and can potentially kill your PC so that it won’t boot so ensure you always take a backup first. I take no responsibility for your PC, only follow this fix if you are comfortable with your own capabilities.

Click on Start, then in the Search/Run box, type “regedit” (without quotes)

Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Delete both the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters keys then reboot your PC

Once your PC boots up again, you should be good to go!

I really hope this helps, I spent a long time looking around and it appears to be a common problem which is why I’ve decided to post it.
